Nesco Resource
Base pay range
$85,000.00/yr - $125,000.00/yr About The Role
We’re seeking an experienced
Structural Engineer
to support the design and validation of large, engineered industrial cooling systems and heat exchanger assemblies. This role is ideal for a hands‑on structural engineer who enjoys applying sound engineering judgment to real‑world fabrication challenges and collaborating closely with manufacturing, drafting, and mechanical teams. Key Responsibilities
Design and analyze structural steel frames, skids, platforms, pipe racks, and support structures for industrial heat transfer equipment. Evaluate loading conditions including dead, live, wind, seismic, thermal expansion, transportation, lifting, and installation loads. Design base frames, saddles, beams, columns, bracing systems, lifting lugs, and tie‑down features. Perform hand calculations and finite element analysis (FEA) to validate global and local structural behavior. Optimize designs for weight, cost, and manufacturability while meeting stress and deflection criteria. Ensure compliance with AISC, ASME, API, AWS, and customer‑specific requirements. Prepare and review structural calculation packages for internal review, customer submittals, and third‑party inspection. Manufacturing & Fabrication Support
Partner with fabrication and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical, buildable, and cost‑effective. Review shop drawings and resolve fabrication‑related structural issues. Support lifting, rigging, and transportation planning for large assemblies. Coordinate closely with mechanical, thermal, process, and drafting teams to integrate structural requirements. Provide technical input during design reviews, project kickoffs, and customer discussions. Quality, Safety & Continuous Improvement
Participate in internal design reviews and lessons‑learned initiatives. Identify opportunities to standardize structural details and improve design efficiency. Support root cause analysis for structural nonconformances or field issues. Promote a strong culture of safety, accuracy, and engineering accountability. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering with strong structural emphasis. 3–8 years of experience designing structural steel frames and skids in an industrial or heavy manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of steel design, welded connections, bolted joints, and load path development. Proficiency with AISC‑based design methods and structural analysis software (ANSYS, STAAD, SAP2000, or similar). Ability to produce clear, defensible calculation packages suitable for customer and third‑party review. Comfortable working cross‑functionally and supporting engineered‑to‑order projects. Work Environment
This role is primarily office‑based with regular interaction in a manufacturing facility. PPE is required when on the shop floor, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety footwear. The manufacturing environment includes typical fabrication conditions such as noise, dust, and temperature variation. Occasional lifting up to 25 lb. may be required. Benefits
Compensation:
$95,000–$150,000 (based on experience). Health & Wellness:
Medical, dental, and vision insurance. Retirement Planning:
401(k) with company match. Time Away:
Generous paid time off, personal days, and paid holidays. Additional Support:
Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Coverage:
Life and disability insurance. Equal Employment Opportunity
Nesco Resource offers a comprehensive benefits package for our associates, which includes a MEC (Minimum Essential Coverage) plan that encompasses Medical, Vision, Dental, 401K, and EAP (Employee Assistance Program) services.
