About the Role Packsize is looking for a Mechanical Engineer – ETO (Engineer to Order) to join the ETO Team in Louisville, KY.
This engineer will design, modify, and test mechanical systems and components to meet unique customer requirements and environments.
You will create customized solutions by integrating Packsize technology with third‑party hardware and software systems such as conveyance, dimensioners, printers, scanners, and computer‑vision platforms.
This is a hands‑on, creative role that blends mechanical design, automation, and systems integration.
You will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams, engineering, manufacturing, and project management to deliver tailored, reliable packaging automation systems for our customers.
What You’ll Bring
BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and industry standards
Experience with design for manufacturing and serviceability
Proficiency in Creo for CAD design and Windchill for PDM/PLM data management
Experience with SolidWorks and 3DExperience is a plus
Familiarity with mechanical and electrical BOM integration and management
Understanding of sensors, data acquisition, and automated system design
Ability to integrate third‑party hardware/software (conveyance, scanners, printers, etc.)
Demonstrates lean design thinking disciplines and mindsets
Shows curiosity, humility, and strong interpersonal collaboration skills
Experience transferring machines from prototype to production is a plus
What You’ll Do
Design, build, analyze, and test mechanical components and systems
Develop ETO modifications to existing Packsize machines for customer‑specific environments
Integrate external hardware/software solutions with Packsize systems
Document the design and problem‑solving process
Participate in design reviews and cross‑functional collaboration
Manage CAD and BOM data in Windchill and assist with PLM workflows
Work with manufacturers and vendors for part and assembly fabrication
Help troubleshoot, debug, and validate designs in prototype and production environments
Conceive and execute test plans for new and modified systems
Engage in continuous improvement and lifecycle management of customized solutions
Keep current on emerging technologies related to industrial automation and packaging systems
A Few Other Things
Up to 25% travel as needed for customer site visits and installations
Ability to perform hands‑on prototype fabrication and machine assembly
Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, collaborative R&D environment
What We Offer The salary range for this role is
$73,828-90,439 ; however,
