Equipment Services Mechanic

As a vital member of our fleet services team, you'll ensure that county vehicles and equipment are maintained to the highest standards, directly supporting public works, emergency services, and community programs that residents depend on every day.

As a

Mechanic , you will:

Lead preventative maintenance operations

across the County's diverse fleet of vehicles and equipment, ensuring optimal performance and minimizing downtime for critical county services

Diagnose and repair

complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on heavy‑duty equipment including loaders, graders, dozers, compactors, and medium to heavy‑duty trucks to OEM specifications

Manage engine, transmission, and emission system repairs

on both gasoline and diesel‑powered vehicles, utilizing advanced diagnostic tools and techniques to ensure compliance and performance

Execute vehicle upfitting projects

by installing Mobile Computer Terminals (MCTs), emergency lighting systems, and specialized tooling on new county vehicles

Direct fabrication work

including plasma cutting, oxygen/acetylene cutting and welding, arc welding, and MIG welding to modify, repair, and create custom equipment and parts

Oversee inspection and repair

of air, electric, and hydraulic control systems and circuits found on county‑owned vehicles and equipment

Ensure shop readiness

by maintaining tools and the shop area in clean, orderly, and safe condition while adhering to all safety protocols

Respond to emergency situations

as part of on‑call rotation, providing critical support 24/7 as needed to keep essential county services operational in all weather conditions
