Mechanical Estimator
In the Carolinas and across North America, we have improved the efficiency, comfort, security, and dependability of thousands of buildings since the 90s for owners, operators, and occupiers. With over 500 personnel spread over ten locations, we provide services across the Carolinas. To serve our clients around North America, we have a carefully screened list of subcontractor partners and in‑house project managers outside of the Carolinas. To service their whole North American portfolios, we are the go‑to supplier for many of the biggest hotel chains, banks, utilities, and businesses in the country.
Position Overview The Mechanical Estimator will be responsible for preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates for mechanical projects, including HVAC systems. This role involves analyzing project specifications, developing bid packages, and collaborating with vendors and subcontractors to ensure a comprehensive understanding of project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical and HVAC projects based on project specifications and drawings.
Analyze project plans and specifications to identify scope of work and potential challenges.
Develop and maintain bid packages for subcontractors and vendors.
Collaborate with project managers and engineers to validate project scope and specifications.
Review and analyze subcontractor bids and proposals to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Perform take‑offs and quantifications for materials and labor costs.
Provide technical support and documentation during the bidding process.
Develop final proposals that reflect project scope, cost estimates, and timelines.
Participate in project meetings to discuss scope validation and cost control measures.
Stay updated on industry trends, pricing, and new equipment to enhance estimating accuracy.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical estimating, specifically with HVAC systems.
Strong knowledge of estimating principles, controls, and bidding processes.
Proficiency in take‑offs, bid packages, and subcontractor bid analysis.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Familiarity with HVAC principles and calculations.
