The Opportunity We partner with manufacturers across Montague seeking Tool Makers who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.
Key Responsibilities
Design, fabricate, and assemble precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures.
Operate conventional and CNC machining equipment, including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM machines.
Interpret engineering blueprints, schematics, and CAD models to determine tool specifications.
Perform routine and preventative maintenance, as well as repair, on existing tooling.
Inspect finished tools for accuracy, functionality, and adherence to quality standards.
Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with tooling during production runs.
Select appropriate materials and heat treatments for optimal tool performance.
Recommended Qualifications
Completion of a recognized Tool Maker apprenticeship or equivalent hands‑on experience.
Proficiency in operating and setting up a variety of manual and CNC machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders, EDMs).
Ability to read and accurately interpret complex blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
Expertise in using a wide range of precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height gauges, CMM).
Strong understanding of metallurgy, heat treatment, and various materials used in tooling fabrication.
Bonus Qualifications
Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, Mastercam)
Experience operating advanced metrology equipment (e.g., CMM, optical comparators)
TIG/MIG welding experience for tool repair and modification
Knowledge of heat treatment processes for various tool steels
