Job Summary In this role, you will provide project field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing, and subcontract coordination. Your recommendations will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.

Major Responsibilities

Lead Work Planning & Packaging: prepare construction drawings, sketches, drawings and schedules, design temporary construction facilities, and produce "as built" drawings and other job plans.

Manage Materials: initiate requisitions for field purchases, and prepare quantity takeoffs of purchased material and equipment.

Verify Quantities: track commodities in quantity systems or other computer databases.

Ensure Safety & Quality Control: implement zero‑accident philosophy and requirements and maintain safe condition for tools and equipment.

Apply Technical Knowledge: pursue continuous learning and relevant technical activities.

Coordinate System Turnovers: develop a firm understanding of system and area scoping and required drawings.

Supervise Subcontractors: review and approve inspection test plans, coordinate reviews of subcontractor submittals, and administer subcontractor responsibilities.

Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) with 8‑10 years of relevant experience or 12‑14 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills

Technical knowledge across all construction engineering phases and a single discipline (or multi‑discipline positions) interfacing with all areas.

Thorough knowledge of construction activities related to engineering disciplines, cost and scheduling, and contract administration.

Familiarity with Bechtel’s Business Ethics handbook and policies.

Understanding of Project ES&H Handbook and Bechtel Core Processes.

Knowledge of project‑specific environmental compliance requirements.

Knowledge of Bechtel’s Zero Accidents safety program.

Knowledge of subcontract use and subcontractor responsibilities contained in subcontract documents.

Prior experience supervising and administering subcontractors.

Additional Information Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including night or split shift. Must have physical ability for field inspections: extensive walking, climbing ladders and scaffolding, working on elevated or uneven surfaces, and using PPE. Lifting may be required.
