In this role, you will provide project field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination. Your recommendations will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements. Major Responsibilities
Work Planning & Packaging – Prepare construction drawings and sketches; facilitate planning construction methods and procedures. Material Management – Initiate requisitions for field purchases; prepare quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment. Quantities – Verify commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required. Safety / Quality Control – Ensure zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to. Technical – Proactively consider continuous learning or show interest to pursue appropriate learning activities. System Turnover Coordinator – Develop firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for package development. STR / Subcontract Coordinator – Review and approve inspection test plans; coordinate reviews of subcontractor submittals. Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 5‑8 years of relevant experience. Required Knowledge and Skills
Technical knowledge of all phases of construction engineering relating to a single discipline interfacing with all areas, or in a multi‑discipline position assigned to a single area. Thorough knowledge of construction activities as they relate to engineering disciplines, cost and scheduling, and contract administration. Familiar with Bechtel’s Business Ethics handbook and policies. Knowledge and understanding of the application and requirements of the Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Handbook and the Bechtel Core Processes as they relate to area of responsibility. Knowledge of project‑specific environmental compliance requirements. Knowledge of Bechtel’s “Zero Accidents” safety program. Knowledge of the use of subcontracts; knowledge of the contractor/subcontractor’s responsibilities contained in subcontract documents. Prior experience supervising and administering subcontractors. Additional Information
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule as required that may include but not limited to nightshift, or split shift. Work requires the physical ability to conduct field inspections including but not limited to extensive walking in and around a construction site often in high heat and high humidity conditions, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.). Total Rewards / Benefits
