The Accounting Manager / Assistant Controller is responsible for overseeing day‑to‑day accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and supporting financial reporting and internal controls. This role partners closely with the Controller and finance leadership to manage month‑end close, compliance, and process improvements while providing guidance to accounting staff.
Base pay range $90,000.00/yr - $120,000.00/yr
Key Responsibilities Accounting Operations
Oversee general ledger activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals
Manage and review month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes
Ensure accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP (or applicable accounting standards)
Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets as applicable
Prepare and review internal and external financial reports
Assist with audits, including coordinating with external auditors and providing required documentation
Support tax compliance and filings in collaboration with internal or external tax advisors
Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting policies
Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff
Partner with cross‑functional teams to support business initiatives and financial decision‑making
Provide analytical support and explanations of financial results to management
Process Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, systems, and controls
Assist with system implementations, upgrades, and automation initiatives
Ensure consistent application of accounting policies and procedures
Qualifications Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification (preferred)
5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including management or supervisory responsibilities
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements
Experience with ERP systems and accounting software
Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial analysis tools
Soft Skills
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop team members
