Job Overview
Our client is a growing nonprofit organization that is seeking an
Accountant
to join their team. This hands‑on role supports day‑to‑day accounting and financial operations for a mission‑based organization. You’ll play a key role in accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and grant management, helping the Finance team maintain accuracy and compliance while contributing to meaningful work in the community.
Base Pay Range $65,000.00/yr – $75,000.00/yr
Location Fully on-site in the Southwest suburb of Chicago (Palos Heights, IL)

Responsibilities
Manage AP/AR transactions, payroll support, and general accounting tasks
Perform reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records
Assist with monthly financial reports and year‑end audit preparation
Support grant reporting and budget reconciliations
Review payroll data for accuracy and assist with processing
Maintain vendor records and resolve discrepancies
Take initiative to learn and handle accounting responsibilities independently
Qualifications
1–3 years of hands‑on accounting experience (AP, AR, payroll, and reconciliations)
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
QuickBooks Online experience preferred
Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
Attention to detail, persistence, and ability to work independently
