A startup in Nashua, NH, is hiring an Accountant to help build its finance function from the ground up during an exciting early-stage growth phase. This role will manage day-to-day accounting while setting up core financial infrastructure, including QuickBooks, budgeting, and weekly reconciliations. You’ll work directly with the President to create foundational financial processes, support invoicing and vendor payments, and ensure systems like Shopify sync cleanly with accounting workflows. This is a hands‑on, high‑impact opportunity to shape how a startup operates financially as it moves toward full commercialization in 2026. They’re looking for a self‑starting, detail‑oriented accountant who thrives in ambiguity, communicates clearly, and isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves to build something from scratch.
Accountant Responsibilities
Set up and maintain QuickBooks from inception
Create and maintain P&L statements and budgets
Reconcile accounts weekly
Manage vendor payments and outgoing invoices
Coordinate with the Shopify team to ensure accurate syncing with QuickBooks
Track expenses and ensure proper account setup and coding
Gather and organize financial documentation for tax preparation
Support early‑stage financial reporting and forecasting needs
Maintain clean, accurate records in Excel and Microsoft 365
Accountant Requirements
2 – 5+ years of bookkeeping experience in a small business or startup environment
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or economics
Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks and Excel
Experience reconciling accounts regularly
Comfortable building processes where none currently exist
Straightforward, well‑organized resume with clearly aligned experience
Self‑starter with strong accountability and follow‑through
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑moving environment
Payroll experience preferred
Shopify experience preferred
Exposure to healthcare, biotech, pharma, or direct‑to‑consumer environments preferred
Experience supporting early‑stage or venture‑backed companies preferred
