Position Title
Graduate Assistant – Football
Job Description Hinds Community College – Athletics Department. This role supports the Head Football Coach in building, recruiting, and maintaining a competitive football program at Raymond Campus, in accordance with the Athletic Department Handbook and college policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices.
Recruit, train, and provide guidance to members of the football team to promote academic, athletic, and social success, consistent with the mission and goals of Hinds Community College.
Represent Hinds Community College and the Athletic Department positively with high integrity.
Adhere to and enforce all department and college policies, as well as NJCAA and MACCC rules and regulations.
Assist with specific aspects of the football program, providing opportunities that challenge and support student‑athletes.
Assist with the organization and administration of the football program, including recruitment planning, practice and game planning, film coordination, meal planning, and travel planning.
Assist the head coach and assistant coaches with recruiting plans and recruiting of potential student‑athletes.
Assist the head coach and assistant coaches in scouting opponents and in preparing game and practice plans.
Assist in monitoring academic activities for each of the programs (grade checks, study hall monitoring, and advisor support).
Perform other appropriate duties as assigned that relate to the success of the program.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; admission into a master’s degree program preferred.
1‑2 years of competitive college coaching experience.
Experience as a former student‑athlete and/or interest in college athletics.
Familiarity with MACCC and NJCAA governing rules.
Physical Demands Regular use of hands to finger or manipulate objects, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear; frequent standing, walking, sitting; occasional stooping, kneeling, or crawling; lifting or moving up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close focus adjustment.
Work Environment The work environment is moderate in noise level; occasional outdoor and off‑site duties are expected. Employees may experience moderate noise and varying weather conditions.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree required.
Admission into master’s program preferred.
Experience as former student‑athlete and/or interest in college athletics.
1‑2 years of competitive coaching experience preferred.
