We are seeking a detail-oriented
Real Estate Accountant
to join a collaborative and experienced accounting team. This position focuses on managing and overseeing the reimbursement of recoverable expenses (such as CAM, utilities, and property taxes) for a portfolio of properties. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to interpret lease agreements.
Key Responsibilities
Calculate annual rent roll impounds and make adjustments as needed.
Prepare and manage annual/periodic tenant billings for recoverable expenses in accordance with lease terms.
Develop annual recoveries budgets and quarterly projections.
Interpret and apply lease or contractual terms impacting recoverable expense calculations.
Ensure compliance with reimbursement provisions in lease agreements.
Calculate monthly recovery accruals and assist with property accounting.
Respond to tenant inquiries and resolve billing disputes.
Collaborate with Accounts Receivable, Property Management, Leasing, Legal, and Operations teams.
Provide ad hoc reporting and support for cross‑functional projects.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (Accounting or Business preferred).
Minimum 2 years of accounting experience (property accounting or full‑cycle GL preferred).
Familiarity with lease interpretation and contract compliance.
Strong understanding of accrual accounting principles.
Proficiency in Excel; experience with Yardi is a plus.
