has an exciting BRAND-NEW opportunity for a Project Engineer within the Operations Department based in Columbus, MS! As a Project Engineer, you’ll be the driving force behind turning ideas into reality – leading projects from concept to completion. You’ll own the technical vision, coordinate cross-functional teams, manage budgets, and solve complex challenges, all while ensuring every detail meets the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance throughout the project lifecycle. This position is designed and intended to be performed in Columbus, MS. It will report to the Engineering Technical Manager.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Define project scope for initiatives such as equipment replacement, quality improvements, cost reduction, and new product development.

Drive process and equipment innovations to improve safety, efficiency, environmental compliance, and profitability.

Manage capital and expense projects from concept through startup, including budgeting, purchasing, and cost tracking.

Oversee design, scheduling, and construction with a focus on safety, food quality, energy efficiency, and compliance.

Coordinate with Operations, Environmental, Safety, and Quality teams to ensure seamless project execution.

Prepare bids, manage contractors, and administer contracts following approved procedures.

Supervise construction, resolve issues, and ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

Provide startup support, documentation, and training, including O&M manuals and equipment lists.

Ensure compliance with permitting, codes, regulations, and Management of Change procedures.

Collaborate with internal teams and external engineering firms on design, specifications, and construction management.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment is desired.

Experience in project management, including directing construction-related activities, is preferred.

Understand, create, and update process flows; including documentation and standard operating procedures.

Minimum of a BS degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering required. Other degrees may be applicable with appropriate experience.

Interest and general understanding of lean manufacturing principles.

Proficiency with analytical tools, workflow time study, and process balancing.
