Maintenance Area Engineer – Fiberline Global Cellulose Fibers – Columbus, MS Pay: $90,000 – $110,000 Salaried Full‑Time

About the Role The Maintenance Area Engineer operates in the Fiberline area of the Columbus, MS mill, which is a leading producer of bleached softwood pulp for paper and specialty products. As a key member of the maintenance team, you will focus on equipment reliability, preventive and predictive maintenance, and capital project execution to support continuous process performance.

Responsibilities

Lead an injury‑free workplace culture and champion safety

Analyze chronic equipment failures and high maintenance cost equipment; develop and implement root‑cause solutions

Assess maintenance‑related downtime weekly and drive corrective actions to eliminate repeat issues

Provide technical support for day‑to‑day production and maintenance problems

Champion preventive and predictive maintenance programs

Maintain Mechanical Integrity program and Process Safety Management procedures

Contribute to area maintenance budgets for major maintenance items and optimizations

Analyze financial service cost vs. target and address equipment not delivering targeted cost performance

Develop long‑term maintenance plans for rotating equipment, rebuilds, and major maintenance

Estimate, plan, and manage maintenance projects within budget for routine work, quarterly outages, and major outages

Design, develop, and execute capital and expense projects

Manage contractor work and coordinate routine and major shutdown jobs per mill standards using best engineering practices

Qualifications

BS (minimum) in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering

Minimum 3 years of reliability/maintenance engineering experience in continuous process industry, preferably Kraft pulp manufacturing

Knowledge of maintenance best practices, ASME, NBIC, API codes, and OSHA regulations

Extensive knowledge of rotating equipment, pressure vessels, piping systems, and atmospheric storage tanks

Proficiency with precision measurement tools and assembly techniques

Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to teach and collaborate within a diverse organization

Excellent written and oral communication, organizational and planning skills, and computer proficiency

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work extended hours during scheduled outages
