$118,600 - $137,000 (commensurate with experience)

About the Role This position is located at the Columbus, MS Global Cellulose Fibers mill. As one of the largest softwood pulp producers in the world, this location produces bleached softwood pulp for use in paper and specialty products such as absorbent personal care products, pharmaceuticals, and photographic‑based papers. This position reports to the Utilities Area Maintenance Manager.

Responsibilities

Champion safety and quality standards, conducting site condition checks and risk analyses to prevent issues.

Develop detailed outage plans, including work scopes, schedules, and resource allocation for tools, materials, and craft labor.

Oversee the on‑site execution of outages, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols, technical specifications, and project schedules.

Act as the primary contact for all stakeholders, including internal departments, external vendors, and customers, to ensure all resources are available and coordinated.

Monitor and control costs throughout the outage process, looking for opportunities to improve productivity and reduce overall expense.

Ensure proper documentation is prepared, used, and stored, including field procedures, safety reports, and final customer outage reports.

Provide technical communication and support to the customer's staff during outages.

Lead the close‑out process, including reviewing and finalizing outage reports and documenting lessons learned for future events.

Champion preventive and predictive maintenance programs.

Provide input to area maintenance budgets for major maintenance items and optimizations.

Develop long‑term maintenance plans for rotating equipment, rebuilds and major maintenance.

Estimate, plan and manage maintenance projects to budget for routine work, quarterly outages and major outages.

Provide contractor work management and coordination for routine and major shutdown jobs per mill standards using best engineering practices.

Qualifications

A BS (minimum) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Minimum five (5) years of experience in power generation or turbine operations.

Strong technical knowledge of steam and/or gas turbines and associated auxiliary systems.

Exceptional planning, scheduling, and coordination skills, often using project management software.

A strong understanding of EHS (Environment, Health, and Safety) requirements and the ability to perform preliminary risk analyses.

Excellent communication and leadership skills to influence stakeholders and manage teams in challenging environments.

Knowledge and experience in Maintenance Best Practices.

Working knowledge of ASME, NBIC and API codes and OSHA regulations.

Extensive knowledge of rotating equipment, pressure vessels, piping systems, and atmospheric storage tanks.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as dictated by field assignments.
