Position Overview The Project Cost Accountant is responsible for construction project accounting functions including but not limited to accounts receivable, accounts payable, collections, job cost, budget, commitments, lien waivers, and billing for LGE Design Build. This includes having the ability to effectively communicate accounting and project-related matters with both internal and external customers quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Function of Position Responsible for LGE Design Build accounting functions includes:

Actively involved and ensuring customer billings, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash disbursements, job cost, journal entries, and tracking waivers are accurate and timely.

Monthly preparation of month end billings and incorporating resolutions from monthly WIP meeting.

Track PDA and AIA cash received, payments made, and budgets are accurate and timely.

Provide valuable insight into both PDA and AIA projects for external and internal customers.

Facilitate and coordinate timely payment to subcontractors, ensuring compliance with contract terms and proper documentation

Collection of lien waivers: Subcontractor and Supplier Conditional Progress and Final Payment Lien Waivers, Subcontractor and Supplier Unconditional Progress and Final Payment Lien Waivers and LGE’s Conditional and Unconditional Progress and Final Payment Lien Waivers.

Assist in preventing and removal of liens.

Review consultant agreements, research, and resolve billing and budget discrepancies.

Provide input into the development and improvement of accounting processes for efficiency improvements.

Ad hoc reporting and analysis on an as needed basis

Required Attributes:

Proactive, team player, positive attitude, and willing to go the extra mile.

A minimum of 2+ years accounting experience, construction industry background and job costing experience a plus.

Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word, and Sage 300 experience a plus.

Teamwork: Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness.

Decision Making: Assess situations to determine the importance, urgency and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organization.

Problem Solving: Assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem.

Behave Ethically: Understand ethical behavior and business practices and ensure own behavior and the behavior of others are consistent with these standards and align with the values of the organization

Reporting This position will report directly to the Controller.

Evaluation An annual review by the Controller, peers, and related company staff will be used as part of the evaluation. The above functions of the position will be used as a basis of the review. Evidence of your demonstration in company values, functional assistance with the team in needed areas, client-rapport and your individual goals will also undergo evaluation.
