Base pay range $50,000.00/yr - $65,000.00/yr

The Educational Theatre Association (EdTA) is seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support the organization's day-to-day financial operations. This role plays a critical part in maintaining accurate records, supporting monthly close, and ensuring strong internal controls across EdTA's entities, including the Association, Foundation, and International Thespian Festival (ITF).

International Thespian Society , the honorary organization for high school and middle school theatre students, and we host the

International Thespian Festival (ITF) —a premier event celebrating student artistry and achievement.

About The Role The Bookkeeper supports EdTA's finance team by ensuring timely, accurate processing of accounting transactions and maintaining clean, well-documented records in QuickBooks Online (QBO) and/or Sage Intacct. Working closely with the Director of Finance, this role supports accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, documentation management, and month‑end close activities.

Requirements A Typical Day May Include

Processing accounts payable from vendor setup through payment and documentation filing

Managing accounts receivable, including invoicing, applying payments, and tracking outstanding balances

Coding transactions accurately by entity, program, department, and project/class structure

Recording deposits and reconciling cash receipts across multiple payment platforms

Completing bank and credit card reconciliations and resolving discrepancies

Preparing routine journal entries under the direction of the Director of Finance

Maintaining organized digital records to support audits, compliance, and internal review

Assisting with monthly close schedules, budget updates, audit preparation, and 990 support

Role Progression

Within 1 month: You'll be trained on EdTA's accounting systems, chart of accounts, and documentation standards

Within 3 months: You'll independently manage day‑to‑day AP/AR processing, reconciliations, and transaction coding

Within 6 months: You'll be a trusted partner in monthly close, audit preparation, and grant or restricted fund support

You are eager to learn and grow within a nonprofit finance environment

Nice to Have but Not Necessary

Experience using QuickBooks Online or Sage Intacct

Prior experience in nonprofit accounting, grants, or restricted funds

Familiarity with audits or IRS Form 990 preparation support
