About the Role Mechanical Solutions, Inc. seeks a Payroll Specialist to join our accounting team. The role ensures prompt and accurate payroll processing for both union and non‑union employees across all companies, prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual tax and union reports, and maintains confidentiality.
Responsibilities
Review timesheets and enter weekly union and non‑union payroll for all companies, including data collection, wage and overtime calculations, and deductions (taxes, garnishments, child support, union dues, benefits).
Enter Certified Payroll.
Respond to all payroll inquiries.
Prepare monthly union reports for all companies.
Prepare monthly and quarterly tax reports.
Prepare annual tax reports and W‑2s.
File and data entry as required.
Create and distribute management reports.
Administer 401(k) plans.
Qualifications
2–5 years of payroll experience.
Construction and union payroll experience.
Strong understanding of payroll principles, federal and state tax laws, and general accounting fundamentals.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Certified Payroll Entry.
Ability to handle confidential information.
Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., Sage, ComputerEase).
Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced setting with weekly deadlines.
Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills.
