Michael Foods, Inc. is located in the Village of West Jefferson, OH, just minutes from the western suburbs of Columbus and about 20 minutes west of downtown. It is our most recent greenfield project, producing high‑quality protein shakes for customers worldwide, and reflects our commitment to employees, community and environment. Responsibilities
As the Maintenance Manager, you will lead and direct all plant reliability and maintenance activities at a nearly 100% automated facility. The role includes utilities operation, capital project execution, and ensuring equipment and facilities remain in optimum condition while staying within an approved annual budget. You will partner with the MFI ARM team, plant leadership, maintenance, operations and all supporting teams to meet key performance objectives, reinforce safety as a core value, and uphold Food Safety & Quality standards. Lead the plant maintenance function, including facilities, utilities and operations, to reduce downtime and achieve peak plant efficiencies. Partner with MFI Engineering on capital engineering design and implementation, coordinating multiple projects safely and efficiently. Manage maintenance and project contractors on site, ensuring human safety, food safety and plant GMP compliance. Lead and develop the maintenance team, fostering continuous improvement in safety, quality, delivery and cost. Assist with planning and cost estimates for annual and long‑term capital and operating budgets. Maintain CMMS documentation for maintenance reporting and decision making. Track maintenance department metrics and align initiatives with plant business strategies. Apply MFI standards to assess quality of work performed by employees and contractors. Create a supportive team environment that encourages personal and professional development through MFI ARMED programs. Build and maintain programs with corporate stakeholders consistent with MFI standards. Promote Michael Foods culture, values and principles. Model safe work behaviors and maintain a safe, healthy workplace. Follow GMPs, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure product quality. Ensure regulatory compliance at all times. Lead talent acquisition within the maintenance organization, including interviewing, recruiting and selection. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technical field preferred; associate’s degree, two‑year technical certificate, or a relevant combination of experience acceptable. Minimum five years of proven leadership or supervisory experience in industrial operations, maintenance or utilities operations. Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification preferred. Understanding of PLC and equipment automation preferred. Training and competency in MFI MTL1, MTL2 and MTL3 skills preferred. Experience in industrial project management and SAP preferred. Ability to interact with all levels of the organization. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong time‑management and project‑scheduling abilities. Ability to lead teams, hold members accountable and achieve results through internal and external resources. Strong administrative and follow‑up skills to deliver successful maintenance and repair programs. Physical Requirements
The employee must regularly talk, listen, stand, walk, and occasionally sit. Hand use, finger, handle, reach, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling may be required. The employee may lift or move up to 60 pounds. Vision requirements include close‑vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
