Job Title: Maintenance Technician III
Location: Alexandria, VA 22301
Department: Maintenance
Reports To: Maintenance Manager
Shift: 2:00 PM — 11:00 PM
Position Summary The Maintenance Technician III is responsible for coordinating the daily activities of lower-level Maintenance Technicians while ensuring all production and facility equipment operates efficiently and safely. This position involves mentoring team members, troubleshooting complex equipment issues, and performing hands‑on maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance tasks. The Technician III will also assist the Maintenance Manager and Senior Maintenance Manager with training, development, and performance improvement efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and oversee daily activities of Maintenance Technicians
Coach and assist technicians with troubleshooting and repair techniques
Distribute and prioritize emergency and routine work orders
Serve as a backup to the Maintenance Manager as needed
Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, reliability, and safety
Collaborate with production, engineering, and vendors on equipment and process improvements
Perform mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair
Conduct preventive maintenance on machinery, equipment, and facilities
Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders
Utilize CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) for maintenance tracking and documentation
Follow all safety procedures and enforce PPE usage
Identify and correct unsafe conditions and equipment deficiencies
Ensure compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of drives, motors, pneumatics, and hydraulics
Experience working in a fast‑paced production setting
Supervisory or lead experience preferred
Experience with food processing equipment is a plus
Knowledge of Lockout/Tagout procedures and safety regulations
Familiarity with CMMS systems preferred
Basic to advanced electrical troubleshooting skills helpful
Project management experience is an advantage
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Understanding of ammonia refrigeration systems is beneficial
Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
Education
High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent required
Associate Degree in Industrial Technology or related field preferred
