Associate Attorney
Segal McCambridge, a national litigation firm, is seeking an experienced associate attorney to join our New York office with a focus on general liability defense litigation.
This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who wants to take ownership of their cases while working in a collaborative environment with mentorship from experienced trial attorneys. You’ll be involved in challenging, high‑exposure matters and supported by a national team of seasoned litigators.
About the Role You’ll handle a diverse caseload of general liability matters, including:
Premises liability
Property damage
Personal injury defense
Construction‑related general liability
Child Victim Act
Trucking/Transportation
Other tort and civil litigation
Your Responsibilities Will Include
Managing cases from inception through resolution or trial
Drafting pleadings, discovery, and motions
Taking and defending depositions
Conducting legal research and developing case strategies
Participating in mediations, arbitrations, court conferences, and trials
Communicating with clients, carriers, and opposing counsel
Collaborating with partners and other team members on case strategy
This is a
hybrid position
with a flexible mix of remote work and in‑office collaboration.
What We’re Looking For
Active license to practice law in New York (required)
1+ year of civil litigation experience, ideally with a focus on general liability defense
Strong litigation skills: pleadings, motions, discovery, depositions, and client reporting
Excellent legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills
Ability to independently manage multiple cases and deadlines
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Experience with mediation, arbitration, or trial is a plus
Dual licensure in PA, NJ, or another jurisdiction is a bonus
