The Planet Group is looking for a
Responsive Material Planner
to join our well‑known retail brand on a roughly 6‑month contract. This role is 40 hours per week and will be hybrid in Beaverton, OR, working onsite Monday-Thursday and working from home on Friday. This person will report into the Apparel Materials Planning Director and will work closely with the Global Materials Planning & Sourcing team and will support the Footwear and Apparel business.
Responsive Material Planner Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, experience or training
A minimum of 2 years directly relevant work experience, preferably 3-5 years of experience in Supply Chain, Planning (Supply, Demand, Materials, etc.), Manufacturing and/or Logistics functions
Understanding of Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) basics, Demand, Production and Capacity Management, including key metrics
Ability to interpret driving factors and implement corrective actions
Understanding of Manufacturing best practices and key metrics
Understanding of manufacturing processes (not necessarily Footwear or Apparel)
Experience aligning cross-cultural, virtual teams
Ability to evaluate and recommend improvements in manufacturing strategies to meet inventory and service objectives
Experience in creating tools to support analytics of key business performance metrics
Experience working in a diverse, cross-functional environment and fostering a culture of belonging throughout
Effective communication skills, including in-person, written and via phone
Results‑oriented mentality for prioritizing work, managing upward and downward as necessary
Proficiency with Microsoft office suite
Proactive, thoughtful self‑starter who embraces and leads change through strategic, innovative solutions while driving clarity and accountability to manage a dynamic materials supply chain environment

Responsive Material Planner Description:
Lead the apparel excess management and footwear lead time exception processes and the communication of recommendations to mitigate excess materials
Ensure tactical support and partner with the Global Materials Planning team and cross‑functional stakeholders to develop and implement new strategies for a responsive, flexible materials supply chain
Act as an important part of the Global Material Planning & Sourcing team by working with the Materials Supply Chain (MatSC) partner groups, as well as functions external to MatSC
Partner within the Materials Planning & Sourcing ecosystem to develop and implement capabilities across the functions to meet goals across our key pillars of responsiveness, resiliency, and sustainability
Lead, facilitate, and coordinate cross‑functionally to execute the business
Collaborate with key business partners to provide clear and timely, material availability
Analyze materials demand, executing mitigation processes to ensure on‑time production of materials from key vendors
Ability to drive data‑driven decision‑making
Represent Materials Planning as a subject matter expert (SME)
Partner with Materials Responsive and Inventory Planning Manager, Global Material Planning & Sourcing Leadership team to create future capabilities
Develop and implement new strategies for responsive, flexible materials supply chain to drive on‑time delivery of materials
Identify, scope, and partner with Tech & Analytics teams to develop new analytics and/or systems capabilities
