Facilities Specialist – CPCD The Facilities Specialist supports the daily operations, maintenance, and compliance of CPCD’s administrative buildings, modular classrooms, and playgrounds. Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, this role is responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining interior and exterior building systems; coordinating the work order process; and ensuring facilities meet all Head Start, health, safety, and licensing standards. The Facilities Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring that CPCD environments are clean, safe, and developmentally appropriate for children, staff, and families.

Responsibilities

Inspect, repair, and maintain interior and exterior building systems (plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry).

Coordinate work orders and manage maintenance schedules.

Ensure compliance with Head Start, health, safety, and licensing standards.

Collaborate with staff, contractors, and volunteers to address facility issues.

Perform routine inspections of administrative buildings, modular classrooms, and playgrounds.

Manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines under pressure.

Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information responsibly.

Lifting and carrying 50–100 lbs as required.

Comply with required pre‑employment physical, TB assessment, drug screening, and background check.

Qualifications

Minimum one (1) year of experience in building maintenance and repair, including basic plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and carpentry.

Working knowledge of HVAC systems and minor electrical repair.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Professional communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Demonstrated critical‑thinking and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Access to reliable transportation with required liability insurance.

Successful completion of pre‑employment physical, TB assessment, drug screening, and background check.

Preferred

Formal training or certification in facilities operations, general contracting, or building trades.

Experience managing projects within a set budget.

Basic computer skills and familiarity with work order systems or spreadsheets.

Experience supervising volunteers or support staff.

Benefits

Competitive hourly wage: $21.33 per hour.
