Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager (BDM) holds a critical role in expanding new business opportunities with key target accounts within the medical device sector. This position is unique as it encompasses both generating new business with North American target customers and engaging in Key Account Management within selected assigned accounts. The primary objective is to cultivate growth within existing accounts while acquiring new ones, aligning with Quasar's Business Plan to diversify our customer base.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee contracts, budgeting, and quotations for current accounts throughout the product lifecycle.
Manage lead generation, quotation, New Product Introduction (NPI), mass production launch, and maintenance phases.
Ensure that revenue and profitability targets are achieved in alignment with account management activities.
Ensure that service levels and commitments to customers are consistently met and exceeded.
Works with the Commercial Director (East), to provide updates on account management and business development activities.
The BDM's primary goal is to increase revenue and share of wallet for the accounts under their management.
The BDM will also be responsible for expanding business outside of key accounts and should possess strong sales skills.
As new accounts and locations are established, the BDM works in partnership with the Commercial Director (East) to integrate new clients and effectively manage and grow those accounts.
This role presents a unique opportunity to be part of the initial growth and expansion of existing business, while also contributing to the development of new accounts and locations.
Due to the global nature of our operations, flexibility in working hours is essential, as the position requires participation in calls across multiple time zones, including early mornings and late evenings.
Skills and Knowledge Required:
A Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is typically required. An MBA or advanced degree in a relevant discipline is highly preferred.
Minimum of 5- 10 years of progressive experience in key account management, sales, or business development, with a proven track record of success.
A deep understanding of the medical device industry, including knowledge of regulatory requirements, market trends, and customer needs.
Proficiency in key account management practices, including contract management, budgeting, and quotations throughout the product lifecycle.
Strong sales acumen with a proven ability to identify and capture new business opportunities, develop sales strategies, and meet revenue targets.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to establish and maintain positive customer relationships and ensure high service levels.
Understanding of global business dynamics, ability to work across different time zones, and adaptability to flexible working hours for international calls.
Strong reporting skills to provide regular updates to the Business Development Director and other stakeholders, including clear and effective communication.
