Our client is a rapidly growing commercial landscape company committed to providing a safe work environment for our employees, customers, and visitors. With strong safety programs already in place and a demonstrated reduction in incidents year-over-year, we are adding a second

Safety Manager

to strengthen our safety leadership team and continue driving improvements across all branches.

This is a

high-visibility, field-focused role , spending approximately

70% of the time in the field

conducting audits, inspections, coaching, and relationship-building with crews and leadership.

Position Summary The Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and reinforcing safety training, investigating incidents, ensuring OSHA compliance, and transforming existing safety policies into executable plans and departmental procedures. This role plays a key part in preventing on-the-job injuries and sustaining a strong safety culture across all operations.

The Safety Manager will work closely with HR, branch leadership, operations, and an external safety consultant to ensure consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities Safety Leadership & Culture

Drive and reinforce the

Company Safety Culture

across all branches

Lead by example through consistent field presence and engagement

Reinforce positive behaviors and address recurring safety issues at the branch level

Field Safety & Audits

Conduct regular job-site visits to monitor safety practices and ensure compliance

Perform safety audits and crew observations (multiple crews per day)

Visit higher-risk operations such as tree crews using lifts and specialized equipment

Partner with an external safety consultant during

tri-annual safety audits

Training & Communication

Develop and deliver safety training, toolbox talks, tailgate meetings, and refreshers

Lead morning kickoff presentations and safety meetings (primarily in Spanish)

Maintain accurate records of all safety training

Provide coaching-based safety observations to reduce incidents such as slips, trips, and falls

Incident Management & Compliance

Investigate accidents and incidents thoroughly

Ensure completion of incident reports, photographs, post-accident drug and alcohol testing

Determine OSHA recordable and submit required documentation

Notify insurance carriers and work with resolution managers on active cases

Prepare safety compliance and performance reports

Reporting & Analysis

Create reporting mechanisms for safety-related issues

Analyze incident trends, metrics, and injury case studies

Develop and implement corrective action plans to reduce repeat incidents

Support HR by managing OSHA logs, reports, and related documentation

PPE & Equipment Safety

Oversee distribution, use, and inspection of PPE

Ensure compliance with PPE standards across all crews

Support and improve existing programs, including the company boot reimbursement program

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

Work closely with department managers and branch leadershipAdjust safety approaches by branch based on specific risks and behaviors

Support company-wide safety initiatives, including remote visibility for out-of-state operations

Qualifications Required

3+ years of safety experience, preferably in a field-based role

Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA regulations, injury prevention, and job-site safety

Strong leadership, training, and coaching abilities

Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills

Strong critical-thinking, problem-solving, and risk-assessment skills

High attention to detail and strong organizational skills

Ability to work independently in the field while collaborating with leadership

Bilingual (Spanish/English)

– required

High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred

Safety experience in landscaping, construction, utilities, or similar field-based industries

Strong computer skills, including spreadsheets and presentation development

Experience conducting audits and managing OSHA documentation

Comfortable delivering training and presentations to large groups

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary:

$80,000 – $100,000

Bonus potential:

5–10% of base salary
