RETAIL TECH COORDINATOR
Location: 603 Montrose Ave, South Plainfield, NJ 07080
Pay Range: $21.69 - $30.64 per hour
Job Summary The Retail Tech Coordinator assists in the provision of pharmaceutical services under the supervision of the Registered Pharmacist by performing the technical, clerical, and manipulative tasks involved in dispensing, preparing, and distributing medications and pharmaceutical products for all patient age groups, including geriatrics, adults, adolescents, pediatrics, and neonatal.
The role also involves assisting the Pharmacist and Manager with new referrals, insurance verification, prior authorizations, adjudication, and serves as a patient liaison.
Responsibilities
Arrives to work on time: No tardies
Participates in different committees or plans
Willing to be cross‑trained to work or assist in other areas and helps co‑workers when appropriate
Works flexible on alternating schedules on short notice and supports management as needed
Completes insurance verification to ensure proper billing
Tracks return of paperwork sent with new referrals (general consent, billing, etc.)
Manages patient profiles by entering information accurately and updating profiles when necessary
Processes new referrals by gathering patient information, documentation, and coordinating deliveries
Assists pharmacist with prior authorization process
Acts as patient liaison between clinic and pharmacy
Handles patient concerns that come through the ACD phone system
Ensures all prescriptions adjudicate correctly, covering cost of medication
Assists patients with obtaining financial assistance (copay cards, grants, foundations, government aid)
Initiates compliance refill calls weekly
Contacts patients to schedule new prescriptions sent in from clinics
Maintains referral workflow log
Assists filling technicians with dispensing, preparing, and distributing all medications and pharmaceutical products
Qualifications
Education: High School graduate or equivalent; Associate’s degree preferred.
Registered with the Board of Pharmacy required.
Experience: One year of pharmacy experience, including knowledge of specialty medications, insurance verification, prior authorization processing, managing and coordinating referrals, and patient financial assistance.
Successful completion of all orientations.
Must meet ADA requirements.
