Surgical Tech Program Director/ Clinical Coordinator and Instructor
Black Hawk College seeks a full‑time Surgical Tech Program Director/Clinical Coordinator to teach classes in and manage the Surgical Technology Program. This is an in‑person position at our Quad Cities Campus in Moline, IL that will include supervising clinical rotations. Start date: May 1, 2025.
Responsibilities The Program Director is responsible for the planning, implementation, coordination, supervision and evaluation of all instruction and related program management activities, including clinical coordination. As a full‑time faculty member, the Director is expected to encourage learning by preparing appropriate syllabi; developing lectures, discussions and other presentations or activities to enhance the students’ educational experience; developing and executing appropriate methods of evaluating students’ performance; and securing, maintaining and upgrading the equipment and other instructional materials essential to the presentation of the classroom material.
Qualifications
Associate Degree in surgical technology (minimum).
Documented education or experience in instructional methodology, curriculum design and program planning.
Graduate of an education program in surgical technology accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency.
Credential in the field of surgical technology through a nationally accredited certification program (e.g., NCCA).
Minimum total of five years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past ten years.
Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with faculty, staff and students.
Ability to organize workload, maintain accurate records and follow through on assignments.
Ability to adapt to and encourage positive change.
Oral English proficiency required for classroom instruction.
Experience and training as an educator, with ongoing formal training designed to maintain and upgrade professional, instructional and administrative capabilities.
Participation in an ARC/STSA sponsored accreditation workshop at least once every five years.
