O’Neil, Cannon, Hollman, DeJong and Laing S.C., a mid-sized Milwaukee law firm, is expanding. We are seeking a talented and professional Legal Assistant with three or more years of Wisconsin legal experience in litigation. Must be highly organized, work well with minimal supervision, and happily support a litigation team of two to three attorneys. Great, congenial communication and an awesome rapport with clients, judicial staff, subordinates, opposing counsel, and coworkers are key to succeeding in this position. The ideal candidate will be a self‑starter with a dependable work ethic and proficiency in Microsoft Office, NetDocuments, other law firm document management systems, and Adobe Pro.
Responsibilities
Support attorneys in connection with all aspects of case management.
Maintain physical and electronic client, research, and administrative files utilizing NetDocuments.
Assist attorneys in preparing, proofreading, revising, and finalizing legal documents.
E‑Filing in state, federal, and appellate courts.
Maintain confidential information, files, records, legal documents, and reports.
Submit intake and conflict checks, process time entry, and client billing.
Schedule appointments and maintain attorneys’ calendar and daily docket to ensure deadlines are met.
Transcribe dictation as requested.
Perform routine filing and retrieve files when requested.
Interact with people at all levels in the firm, with heavy client contact.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimal Qualifications
At least three years of Wisconsin law firm experience.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Knowledge of civil procedure and general law firm procedures and protocols.
Microsoft Office programs, document management programs, and Adobe Pro.
E‑filing and E‑service experience.
Ability to effectively multitask.
