Opportunity WSP is currently initiating a search for an Early Career Civil Engineer for our Boise, Idaho office. Be involved in projects with our Facilities Civil/Structural Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients’ objectives and solves their challenges.
Impact
Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of transmission line design for new lines, relocations, upgrades, and fiber optic additions.
A major component of our design process relies on terrain modeling software. In particular, the use of AutoCAD Civil3D is one of the integrated collaboration tools used in communicating 3-D design to our project teams, owners and construction professionals.
There is a lot of latitude for decision making; we’re not interested in micro‑managing.
We expect everyone on the team to assume ownership of the project’s goals and success.
When it comes to quality, we don’t joke around. Each and every project goes through a thorough QA/QC process. You will not simply be drawing lines and doing math, but will be expected to be self‑motivated to deliver your best so as not to disappoint our clients or your team members.
Compensation for this role is a combination of salary and a bonus structure based on your performance.
Qualifications
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
BSCE (Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering) degree from an accredited university.
Candidate should have 0‑1 years of experience and be able to perform work requiring independent judgement, adaptation/modification of engineering principles, procedures, and code requirements.
EIT license required.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
Must be effective in prioritizing and setting deadlines, while also adapting to change.
Must be adaptable, able to problem‑solve, and able to learn and apply new technologies with support.
The candidate must have a strong command of the English language with good oral and written communication skills in order to work effectively.
Demonstrated ability to self‑manage and produce results.
Ability to maintain and develop relationships with both existing and potential clients and recognize their needs, respond to and build on responsibilities accordingly.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil3D or Microstation Inroads.
Ideal coursework includes hydrology, fluid mechanics, soil mechanics, foundational design and surveying.
Previous internship or drafting work experience related to civil and/or civil engineering.
