Man‑in‑Attendance (MIA)

responsibilities include:

Serve as the MIA during electrical work in active hospital environments, ensuring patient safety and uninterrupted operations.

Monitor and support electrical work involving live systems, emergency power, and critical infrastructure.

Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, including normal and emergency power distribution, panels, switchgear, transformers, motor control centers, lighting systems, UPS systems, and generators.

Respond quickly to electrical service calls, alarms, and emergent situations.

Coordinate closely with hospital facilities staff, contractors, project managers, and safety teams.

Verify all work complies with NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 99, NFPA 70E, Joint Commission standards, and local codes.

Maintain accurate documentation, logs, and service reports as required by healthcare regulations.

Support planned shutdowns, emergency response events, and after‑hours coverage as needed.

Act as a technical mentor and leader for junior technicians on site.

Maintain a clean, safe, and professional work area at all times.

High‑visibility role in patient‑care environments.

May require nights, weekends, or on‑call shifts depending on hospital needs.

Qualifications

Journeyman or Master Electrician license (Texas preferred or ability to obtain).

Minimum 5–10 years of commercial/industrial electrical experience, with healthcare or mission‑critical facilities strongly preferred.

Demonstrated experience working on live electrical systems in occupied buildings.

Strong knowledge of hospital electrical systems, life‑safety systems, and emergency power.

OSHA 30 and NFPA 70E training preferred.

Excellent troubleshooting and electro‑mechanical skills.

Strong communication skills with the ability to work calmly under pressure.

Ability to pass background checks and health‑system onboarding requirements.

Physical requirements include standing, climbing, lifting, and working in confined spaces.
