Equipment Mechanic Position The Equipment Mechanic position is responsible for maintaining Maintenance of Traffic equipment (MOT). This equipment includes Message Boards, Arrow Boards, Speed Radar Boards, Portable Regulatory Boards, and utility trailers. This position requires 12 Volt diagnostic ability with CPU, PCB, Solar Regulatory Chargers, & Character Panel wiring. The ideal candidate will need to be familiar with Series and Parallel electrical circuits in relation to battery configurations. This position does require welding/fabrication ability and an understanding of basic hydraulic motor and cylinder functions. We provide training for the specific equipment in use by our company.

Ability to work on small equipment Trailers

Able to determine equipment condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identifying worn and damaged parts.

Keeps equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; and general maintenance of trailers.

Corrects equipment deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub‑assemblies, components.

Verifies equipment performance by conducting tests; adjusting controls and systems.

Maintains equipment appearance by cleaning, washing, and painting.

Maintain equipment records by annotating services and repairs.

Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs. evaluating service and parts options.

Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.

Trailer mechanical repair experience a plus

Electrical and welding experience a plus

2-4 years of preventative maintenance of trailers a plus

Battery charging and testing experience a plus

Perform all other duties as assigned

Requirements

Valid driver's license required , will require passing MVR and controlled substance test, may require background and criminal record check. Knowledge of local driving rules and regulations

Repeated physical effort including driving for several hours per day or several hours at a time, standing and walking for extended periods of time (more than several hours), loading and unloading equipment into and out of company vehicles, walking on varying ground surfaces and frequently lifting a minimum of 50 pounds

Working from elevated platforms, ladders or truck beds

Operating hand/power tools, manual dexterity to operate keyboards and smart phones, physical agility to use arms, legs and hands repetitively

Working outdoors, working safely under adverse environmental and weather conditions which include high speed traffic areas, heavy construction equipment, fuel fumes and construction substances

Comfortable around vehicles moving through work zones and maintaining constant awareness of surroundings on construction site including placement of machinery and equipment, other employees and construction activities

Vision adequate to see moving vehicles, read highway construction MOT signs, read instructions, manuals, reports, and construction plans

Hearing adequate to hear approaching vehicles, audible commands at a distance from supervisors, conversations in person, and over the telephone

Communicating clearly - both written and verbally, ability to complete daily paperwork as required by supervisor

Working a flexible schedule which can include day or night shifts, weekends and/or holidays, adjusting to a changing work schedule, working overtime and working individually and as a team with other employees

Must maintain company standards post‑employment for background checks, criminal record, driving record and controlled substance/drug testing
