Base pay range $33.00/hr - $37.00/hr
The Accountant performs accounting functions for a variety of programs, providing financial support to the development and grant departments. The position researches, understands, and applies state and federal laws, and agencies’ requirements, rules, and regulations. The position works in a team environment, contributing to the success and credibility of the finance office in a variety of roles with a willingness to take on new responsibilities, improve efficiencies, solve problems and provide backup to other accounting office staff. The Accountant is self‑motivated, adaptable to change, and detail oriented.
Responsibilities:
Development, Project And Financial Reporting Responsibilities
Coordinate with the Senior Accountant in the accurate tracking and analysis of development activity for both Multi Family and Single-Family programs.
Support annual financial audits by collecting and organizing records, preparing various audit schedules, and performing other related audit functions as requested.
Review and assist with Single Family homeownership construction and grant reporting and compliance. Reconcile appropriate custodial accounts to family accounting ledgers and cash on hand. Reconcile offset accounts to maintain accurate custodial, loan and construction account balances.
Assist in the preparation of technical accounting work related to the Agency’s federal, state and local grants.
Accounts Payable, Receivable And Cash Management Responsibilities
Reconcile bank accounts and monitor cash level requirements.
Prepare receivable invoices for grants, resident services, properties, developments, and others as assigned. Monitor the aging of amounts due.
Research, code, and post cash payments received.
Coordinate and monitor cardholders to ensure credit card expense vouchers are completed within the required timelines and review completed vouchers to ensure compliance with agency policy.
General Responsibilities
Meet reporting deadlines, both internal and external.
Research and respond to program inquiries regarding posted transactions and reports in the accounting system.
Assist with budget development and reporting.
Suggest and implement improvements to relevant processes and procedures.
Assists with other work as assigned.
Qualifications
Physical Requirements
This position normally requires the physical demands of standing, walking, bending, lifting, or performing other work requiring low physical exertion, talking, and hearing on a regular basis to perform the job requirements. These physical demands are required up to 90% of the time.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, required
Experience
3 years of relevant experience to include Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll and or General Ledger.
Special Skills
Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, methods, and terminology
Extensive knowledge of computerized general ledger systems
Knowledge of SAGE Intacct preferred
Prior experience with database management and reporting
Advanced knowledge in Excel, including spreadsheet design and formulas
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Licensure, Registration, Certification
Valid Driver’s License and minimum required liability insurance for WA State
Must be deemed insurable as determined by Catholic Charities’ liability insurance provider
Employment Is Conditional Upon
Being cleared by criminal background check and fingerprinting when required
Wage Range : $33 to $37/hr, depending on education and experience
Work Schedule : Monday - Thursday: 7:30 am to 4:30 pm. Fridays: 7:30 am to 3 pm
13 paid holidays, 12 days of vacation, 12 days of sick leave per year

Retirement 403(b) Plan: employee contributions commence upon employment; Catholic Charities contributes 2% of monthly income and matches up to 4% of employee contributions following 6 months of employment
