Base pay range $50.00/hr - $60.00/hr

The Intersect Group is currently recruiting for a Senior Accountant with experience in Property Management or Real Estate, focusing on retail or office property accounting.

This is a 3-6 month temporary opportunity - could be extended or go permanent.

Position Summary Responsible for applying consistent accounting principles and procedures to record and analyze financial information, maintain the integrity of the financial records, provide transparent and accurate financial information to Sr. Management and Operations team, prepare accurate and timely financial reports, ensure adherence to appropriate accounting control procedures, and leverage technology to improve internal processes.

Job Duties

Review and analyze accrual basis general ledger for accuracy and reasonableness

Review adjustments to the tenant ledger

Prepare monthly/quarterly balance sheet reconciliations

Review portfolio financial statements; analyze and write variance comments for significant financial variances

Assist with complex special projects, including preparing various analysis schedule & ad hoc requests

Provide accounting support to property management team

Participate and present in periodic meetings with Property Managers and accounting team

Responsible for month‑end close, which includes preparing and reviewing monthly journal entries, reports, and reconciliation

Oversee G&A expenses, analyze variances, and reconcile general ledger accounts ensuring accuracy and compliance

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports related to G&A activities, financial report distributions, and present G&A financials to Divisions quarterly

Prepare G&A metrics comparing G&A overhead management fees and profit margin in comparison to REITS and present data to Divisional Presidents and Executive teams

Prepare complex G&A cost allocations and manage large data sets

Analyze and maintain confidential employee payroll data

Collaborate with department heads to understand budgetary needs and monitor spending

Manage quarterly forecast and annual budgeting process for G&A

Conduct regular audits of G&A processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness

Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures

Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations

Provide financial insights and contribute to decision‑making for G&A functions

Participate in cross‑functional projects as a financial expert

Assist with special projects and other duties as requested

Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations

5 years accounting experience Real Estate, preferably in Property Management

Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in accounting or finance

Work independently and good decision‑making skills

Can manage a high work volume

Good written and verbal communication skills

Ability to effectively communicate in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment across the organization; train Operations team in a classroom setting

Strong organizational and analytical skills; detail‑oriented; self‑motivated; ability to multi‑task and prioritize

Experience with MRI and SAP preferred

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel: writing formulas, pivot table, and power query (Preferred)

Systems

Experience with MRI and SAP preferred

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel

Will need to take an Excel test before interview

Power Query preferred (not required) – would need to be able to write formulas. This is a function through Excel that is called Get & Transform.
