Lead Clinical Billing Specialist – UAMS Join the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) as a Lead Clinical Billing Specialist. The role focuses on managing physician and hospital accounts, providing customer service to UAMS staff, and serving as a technical resource for billing procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Address all incoming inquiries from Customer Service staff, UAMS employees, by phone, mail, or in person concerning physician and hospital accounts.

Serve as a technical resource for other customer service staff and assist with training new employees.

Document all activity in patient accounts and apply third‑party billing practices and regulations.

Approve refunds to patients and insurance companies, perform weekly audits on staff adjustments to physician charges, and scan backup into the system.

Lead bi‑monthly unit meetings, adjust work assignments, and supervise staff in the absence of the manager.

Process reports for the Payment Posting manager and handle other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, or related field with three (3) years in a customer service setting, including one (1) year of supervisory experience.

OR high school diploma plus seven (7) years in a customer service setting with one year of supervisory experience.

Familiar with third‑party insurance rules, Medicaid and other government programs, and facility payment plan options.

Preferred: Experience in a high‑volume customer service center or hospital revenue cycle setting; Epic experience preferred.
