Position Summary:

Auburn Advancement is excited to begin the search for a Gift Accounting Specialist to join our operations and strategy team. This role advances philanthropic initiatives through comprehensive gift processing and acknowledgments, strengthening donor relationships and driving ongoing support for Auburn Advancement.

Data Precision: Ensure accurate recording and reporting of donor contributions.

Data Integrity: Maintain comprehensive records, regularly audit data for accuracy and compliance.

Champion Philanthropy: Contribute to fostering donor satisfaction and trust, encouraging ongoing support for Auburn Advancement and the university’s mission.

Essential Functions

Research and analyze documentation, input data from receipt of gifts for various Auburn entities.

Determine donor intent and gift purpose when recording gifts.

Process gifts and pledges per university policies and IRS regulations.

Maintain familiarity with all types of gift transactions and related policies.

Respond to inquiries about gifts and pledges.

Ensure timely updates of gift records, aligning with industry practices.

Enhance business processes, including automation for uploading and reconciling data into fundraising and integrated systems.

Collaborate with finance, IT, and fundraising staff to standardize gift agreements and coding across systems.

Maintain data accuracy for comprehensive record-keeping and reporting.

Leverage CRM tools and processes to find efficiencies and expedite accurate data input and reconciliation.

Apply organizational policies related to gift accounting standards.

Maintain the highest degree of confidentiality.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of experience in data management, data analysis, financial support services, business operations, and/or administrative/clerical support.

OR Master’s degree plus 1 year of experience in fields listed above.
