Salary Range:
$54,209 - $87,277
Job Purpose The purpose of this classification is to supervise day‑to‑day operations and staff involved in performing maintenance and repair services on County‑owned vehicles and equipment in an assigned department or area.
Essential Functions:
Supervise, direct, and evaluate assigned staff; develop and oversee employee work schedules, compile timesheets, address employee concerns, conduct performance appraisals, and train staff.
Organize, prioritize, and assign work to meet objectives, ensure resources, monitor progress, and provide technical expertise.
Schedule preventive maintenance and on‑demand repairs, identify units needing work, create work orders, assign technicians, and communicate with customers.
Monitor technician work and performance, inspect vehicles after maintenance, review completed work orders, and ensure records and parts billing are accurate.
Order parts or services, coordinate with vendors, process purchase requisitions and invoices.
Supervise vehicle inventory, receive and record new vehicles, order decals, process retired vehicles, and prepare retired vehicles for disposition.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required, with vocational or technical training in automotive repair or fleet operations and maintenance.
Three years of experience in automotive maintenance and repair or fleet operations; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
License or Certification Required Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license and obtain a commercial driver’s license (CDL) appropriate for the level of equipment operated within six (6) months of starting employment in this classification.
