Overview

Plan, assign, inspect, and coordinate the maintenance and repair of transit automobiles, buses, and heavy equipment; coordinate the daily maintenance and repair activities with other divisions, outside agencies, and the general public and ensure work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures. This is a safety-sensitive position subject to random drug/alcohol testing. Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in business; Five (5) years of automotive mechanical repair experience; One (1) year of lead or supervisory experience; Fleet maintenance and repair experience preferred. Additional Requirements

Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire. Possession of a valid City Operator's Permit (COP) within 90 days from date of hire. Possession of a valid New Mexico Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B with a Passenger (P) endorsement within six (6) months from date of hire. Possession of Air Conditioning certifications within 90 days from date of hire. Possession of a valid New Mexico Compressed Natural Gas license within 90 days from date of hire. Required Knowledge and Proficiency

Methods, equipment and materials used in the overhaul, repair and maintenance of automobiles, buses and heavy equipment Operations, services and activities of a mechanical maintenance program Principles of lead supervision and training Methods and techniques of mechanical maintenance and repair work Operational characteristics of mechanical repair equipment and tools including testing equipment, lathes and a variety of automotive hand and power tools Occupational hazards and standard safety practices Pertinent Federal, state and local laws, codes and regulations Responsibilities

Supervise, organize and review the work of lower level staff Select, supervise, train and evaluate staff Coordinate various operations and maintenance activities Determine methods and materials needed for repair and installation of automotive parts Interpret and explain City policies and procedures Prepare clear and concise reports and utilize basic computer programs relevant to assigned area Communicate clearly and concisely Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation Work independently in the absence of supervision Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including City officials and the general public
