Title Mechanical Engineer III

Duration 12 Months

Location 100% Onsite - Hickory, NC

Interview Process 1st round phone screen, 2nd round onsite

Work Schedule 8-10 hours/day, M-F, 8 AM - 5 PM

Scope of Position Position will serve as a mechanical resource for Plant Engineering based in Client's Hickory, NC facility. Main responsibility is to function as mechanical design support on project work to improve existing fiber optic cable manufacturing equipment.

Job Functions

Design tooling and/or mechanical assemblies utilizing Inventor or AutoCAD

Obtain quotes and order components, revise equipment drawings

Over 10 years of experience in mechanical equipment design

Develop experimental plans to validate designs, assemble or oversee assembly of systems with opportunity for hands on work

Experience with manufacturing equipment repair, maintenance, assembly/installation, SolidWorks, 3D AutoCAD

Debug and resolve issues when integrating designs into production equipment

Work closely with a cross functional engineering team including IT, process and electrical engineers/technicians, work with operations to update documentation and support training as needed

Strong ability to generate/modify mechanical models/drawings using Inventor also work on modification, software packages

Required Education Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing or mechanical is required

Required Experience 5+ years in mechanical system design and integration

Required Skills

Experience with mechanical system design and integration

Ability to generate or modify mechanical models/drawings primarily using Inventor (or similar 3D CAD software), Vault and some AutoCAD

Knowledge and application of drafting standards including GD&T

Ability to work with machine shops/vendors to complete part procurement

Hands on experience with mechanical system troubleshooting such as pneumatic controls, flow control, water cooling systems, etc.

Experience with manufacturing equipment repair and maintenance and experience managing mechanics/electricians for equipment assembly and installation

Manufacturing Experience, Inventory, Troubleshooting, SolidWorks, AutoCAD

Desired Skills

Familiarity or experience with plastic extrusion manufacturing

Experienced in electrical system troubleshooting including low and medium voltage systems, motion control, PLCs, temperature control systems, etc

Working knowledge of data analysis techniques using Microsoft Excel, PI and/or PowerBI

FEA Analysis and Installation, Debug
