About This Role Kansas State University's Aerospace and Technology Campus in Salina seeks an experienced Assistant Chief Flight Instructor to join its growing team of aviation flight professionals! This position is responsible for FAR 141 training activities and following department policies and procedures.

The Assistant Chief position may be delegated under FAR 141 rules by the Chief Flight Instructor for our flight school the ability to enroll students, terminate students, transfer students and graduate students in the program. In addition, the Assistant Chief Flight Instructor may be delegated the ability to conduct end of course final progress checks for pilot ratings.

Students train for certifications/ratings from solo through commercial on a variety of aircraft.

Worksite Description On‑site . Work is performed on employer premises or designated assignment location. Assistant Chief Flight Instructors typically work a morning or an evening shift.

What You’ll Need to Succeed Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree

Must pass an FAA Part 141 Assistant Chief Flight Instructor Evaluation

Detailed documentation of training records and strict compliance to Safety Practices and Procedures manual and a safety culture

The following credentials:

FAA Commercial Pilot Airplane Single‑Engine Land

FAA Commercial Pilot Airplane Multi‑engine Land

Current Certified Flight Instructor Airplane Single-Engine and Instrument Land

FAA Certified Flight Instructor Single-Engine Land and Instrument

FAA Flight Instructor High Performance Endorsement and Complex Endorsement

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with a flight school scheduling system

Management and supervisory experience

FAA Gold Seal Flight Instructor

FAA Advanced Ground Instructor

FAA Instrument Ground Instructor

FAR 141 Stage Check Instructor

FAR 141 Assistant Chief Flight Instructor experience

FAR 141 Chief Flight Instructor experience

FAR 135 or FAR 121 on demand or scheduled airline pilot experience

FAR 135 or FAR 121 Scheduled Airline or on-demand charter Instructor

FAR 135 or FAR 121 scheduled airline or on-demand Check Airman experience

FAA Flight Instructor Tail Wheel endorsement

Multi‑Engine Instructor Certificate

Additional Role Information:

Must maintain a current FAA Medical Certificate with second class privileges

Maintain 45 billable hours per month average, perform monthly observation flights with a student and CFI with written reviews

Sponsorship eligibility:

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship
