Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer – Sheet Metal
Location: Greenwood, MS.
Position Overview :
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer with strong proficiency in SolidWorks and a solid background in sheet metal design. This role involves developing innovative mechanical components and assemblies, producing detailed CAD models and drawings, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to bring products from concept to production.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for precision engineering, a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, and the ability to design cost‑effective, manufacturable, and high‑performing sheet metal parts and assemblies.
Key Responsibilities :
Design and develop mechanical components and systems using SolidWorks, with a focus on sheet metal parts
Generate detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings with appropriate GD&T, material specs, and finish requirements
Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to ensure high‑quality, cost‑effective production
Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, procurement, and other engineering disciplines throughout the product development cycle
Perform tolerance analysis and fit checks for complex assemblies
Participate in design reviews and support engineering changes, documentation, and revisions
Interface with vendors and suppliers for prototyping, fabrication, and production tooling
Ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements
Required Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
5 years of mechanical design experience, with a strong emphasis on sheet metal products
Proficient in SolidWorks (3D modelling, sheet metal tools, drawing creation)
Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes (laser cutting, bending, punching, welding, etc.)
Familiarity with GD&T and engineering drawing standards (ASME Y14.5)
Experience with BOMs, ECOs, and version control systems
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications :
Familiarity with ERP or PLM systems (e.g., SAP, Arena, or Teamcenter)
Exposure to structural analysis, FEA, or tolerance stack‑up tools
Understanding of cost estimation and material selection for sheet metal
