Field Service Representative (Industrial) – IES Infrastructure
Job Summary IS an industrial maintenance role providing onsite support, maintenance, and troubleshooting for industrial clients. Requires strong technical background, excellent problem‑solving, and ability to work independently in diverse environments.
Key Responsibilities
On‑Site Equipment Maintenance & Repair
Provide maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair services for pumps, motors, compressors, HVAC systems, conveyors, and other machinery.
Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and emergency repairs to minimize downtime.
Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues and perform repairs or replacements.
Install new machinery or equipment per client specifications and ensure correct setup and calibration.
Troubleshooting & Diagnostics
Use multimeters, oscilloscopes, vibration analyzers to identify faults.
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and software issues on‑site to restore full functionality.
Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals to troubleshoot and perform repairs or installations.
Customer Interaction & Service
Primary point of contact during service visits; maintain professionalism and customer satisfaction.
Communicate technical issues, repair plans, and recommendations in clear concise manner.
Provide training and support to customers on operation and maintenance.
Maintain strong customer relationships with timely, efficient, courteous service.
Preventive Maintenance & System Upgrades
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance visits to ensure longevity and proper functioning.
Recommend system upgrades, replacements, or modifications to improve efficiency or meet evolving client needs.
Monitor and record performance of systems during visits and suggest optimizations or improvements.
Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulations, and company policies.
Conduct risk assessments and safety checks before starting any repair or maintenance work.
Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, use appropriate PPE, and observe all safety guidelines.
Report safety hazards or concerns immediately to management.
Documentation & Reporting
Complete accurate service reports for each job detailing work performed, parts replaced, and recommendations for further action.
Track service activities, parts inventory, and equipment condition in company databases or service management software.
Maintain accurate records of time worked, travel expenses, and other administrative tasks required for billing and reporting purposes.
Inventory & Equipment Management
Ensure service vehicles are stocked with necessary tools, parts, and equipment.
Monitor inventory levels of spare parts and order supplies as needed.
Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition, including performing regular checks and servicing.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications in industrial maintenance, electrical systems, or related fields preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 3‑5 years as a Field Service Technician or similar role, with focus on industrial machinery or equipment.
Technical Skills: Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems; proficiency in diagnostic tools; familiarity with PLCs; welding/fabrication or machining experience is advantageous.
Certifications: HVAC Technician, Electrical Technician, or Industrial Maintenance Certifications are a plus.
Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license with clean driving record; extensive travel required.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; work in confined spaces, high places, noisy settings; stand, kneel, bend for extended periods; travel regularly and work at client locations, sometimes overnight stays.
