Job Summary
The primary responsibility of the Production Supervisor is to coordinate the day-to-day activities of a team of production employees to ensure that manufacturing operations run according to established production standard operating procedures related to the assigned production line, specifications, volume and cost schedules, waste reduction targets, and quality standards. The Supervisor oversees the quantity and quality of output, making necessary adjustments to tasks, timing, equipment setup, or inputs to meet production standards and utilize resources effectively. Additionally, the Production Supervisor ensures that all production duties are carried out and that machines and equipment are operated safely.
Essential Duties
Ensures the achievement of all plant safety objectives and protocols.
Maintains a clean plant floor and eliminates safety hazards.
Reviews accidents and offers recommendations for prevention.
Oversees the recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance evaluation of staff.
Adheres to all plant-wide OSHA regulations and promptly reports any concerns.
Cultivates a cohesive team environment to enhance collaborative goal achievement.
Meets all predefined quality expectations and goals.
Meets or exceeds anticipated labor cost projections.
Monitors employee performance and conducts regular performance reviews, fostering positive performance and coaching employees in improvement areas when necessary.
Administers disciplinary actions in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Keeps track of employee attendance per company policy, reviews time off requests, and ensures timely approval of timecards.
Assists on the production line as necessary to sustain production levels.
Compiles production reports to facilitate the identification and resolution of performance issues.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications, Skills, Abilities and Educational Requirements
High School Diploma/GED
5 - 7 years of experience in a manufacturing production facility, preferably in injection molding, concrete, assembly, or chemical production
3 - 5 years of experience with complex machines and providing front line leadership to production staff
Experience in all areas of the production line, preferably in DiversiTech job levels
Strong mechanical and mathematical aptitude
Experience working in a fast paced and high-volume work environment
Possesses a robust mechanical aptitude and prior experience in operating intricate and hazardous machinery
Demonstrates a commitment to surpassing job expectations
Computer literacy to include Microsoft Office Suite
Proactive “self-starter” with a strong attention to detail
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Inter-Relationships
Consistent interaction with hourly production employees and management. Provides direction, coaching, scheduling, and conflict resolution instructions to team. May interact with senior level management.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
Work Environment
This position works in a manufacturing setting. Frequently exposed to seasonal temperatures of excessive cold or heat. Work environment is often loud, dusty and/or dirty due to the materials required for production. PPE is required for those working in chemical plant. May work day, midday, or night shifts and be on call during non-scheduled work hours for emergencies.
