Position Summary Location: East Harlem, NY The Financial Planning Officer’s primary responsibilities include working directly with each business unit to prepare the Company’s annual budget, five‑year business plan, and ongoing monthly and quarterly forecasting. This role maintains the budgeting system, performs analytics to monitor actual results against budget and peers, and communicates findings to business units. The officer also oversees the preparation of other standard monthly/quarterly reports, serves as a resource for performance metrics, coordinates forecasts and annual plans, and provides special pro‑forma analysis as required by the Finance Department.
Responsibilities
Serve as a financial advisor to the CEO, CFO, and executive team for strategic planning.
Lead and manage the budgeting process.
Gather financial data for analysis and forecasting regarding profits, trends, costs, and compliance.
Develop appropriate tracking methods for revenue and expenses.
Coordinate with MIS management to ensure company objectives are met.
Analyze business and financial data and create financial models to support organizational decision making.
Develop financial plans and reports for organizational leaders.
Analyze industry trends and make recommendations based on those trends.
Evaluate capital expenditures and depreciation.
Develop automated reporting and forecasting tools for more efficient data use.
Prepare the annual budget using historical data, business plans, and peer comparisons.
Consider the company’s risk limits and policy floors during the planning cycle.
Communicate actual results and variances to the plan; produce quarterly variance reports with discussions of volume/rate differentials, peer comparisons, and unplanned items.
Prepare monthly reports for senior and departmental managers and collaborate on data consistency checks.
Act as a resource for questions on key performance indicators and possess strong operational knowledge.
Oversee the design and maintenance of the corporate plan model and help prepare the annual plan.
Maintain the quarterly forecast on a rolling eight‑quarter basis.
Assist Accounting and Finance and other areas in designing new reports as needed.
Prepare presentations and reports for the CEO, CFO, and Board of Directors.
Speak on behalf of the CFO or CEO regarding plan details when required.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting (strong accounting skills required).
5–7 years of experience in financial analytics within the financial services industry.
Professional experience as an accountant, auditor, or computer programmer analyst, or a valid CPA certificate with at least five years of relevant experience.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for interaction at all organizational levels.
Capacity to meet deadlines and handle pressure consistently.
Exposure to Asset/Liability Management is a plus.
Expert knowledge of Office 365 (especially Excel), Cognos, Jack Henry Core System, Profitstars, and SQL.
