Mechanical HVAC Engineer - Jacobs
This role focuses on HVAC design solutions for our Data Center market within Jacobs Advanced Manufacturing Group. The position is available for any location in the United States, with preference for candidates near a Jacobs U.S. office.
Base Pay Range $102,900.00/yr – $141,500.00/yr
Responsibilities You will work alongside engineers and designers performing field investigations, interfacing with clients & vendors, sizing and selecting equipment, and preparing construction design packages. You’ll be accountable for schedule and technical quality of challenging engineering tasks as you gain familiarity with the client’s expectations, scope, budget, and schedule.
Highlights of your contributions will include:
Layout and design of HVAC systems for various types of clients, including electric vehicles, data centers, and heavy industrial facilities.
Development of the design criteria for HVAC systems, including general comfort, accurate temperature/humidity control, unique pressurization, and cleanliness requirements for clean rooms.
Development of conceptual and preliminary design documents, calculations for sizing and selection, Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and general arrangements.
Layout of ductwork systems based on P&IDs.
Development of final design documents including specification, sequences of operation, piping layout, and final construction documents for chilled water, cooling water, etc.
Coordination with other disciplines.
Utilize strong curiosity, multitasking, collaboration, and organizational skills to grow and make a big impact on the world.
Qualifications
Five (5) or more years’ experience in the design of HVAC systems.
Thorough knowledge of codes and standards related to HVAC design.
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Adaptability to work within a fast‑paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
Ability to lead a building mechanical team on a project and collaborate remotely with other disciplinary team members.
Ideal Qualifications
Professional Engineering License.
Software experience in Revit, AutoCAD, Carrier HAP, Trane Trace 700, and Trane Trace 3D.
Experience in the design of plumbing/utility systems.
