Role This position manages the design and construction of new or expanded facilities. The role reviews codes, calculations, drawings, specifications, constructability and material selection/substitutions to support assigned work. It is responsible for contractor management, troubleshooting design or construction conflicts, providing technical solutions, performing project‑specific safety assessments/audits, quality control and inspection to design standards, preparing startup and commissioning documents, and training for all assigned work. The engineer conducts construction surveillance to ensure adherence to contractual requirements and provides on‑site resolution of engineering problems encountered during construction. Investigation of problems during testing and operations and directing re‑testing to ensure satisfactory performance of the system are also required. The position requires close coordination and management of multiple construction projects with multiple stakeholders, customers, maintenance and operations personnel. The engineer also prepares project cost estimates and works with third parties to develop studies prior to design. This position will support facilities in either the technical services, project management or crane engineering team. The candidate shall have an applicable degree and at least three years of experience in an industrial environment. The role oversees electrical, mechanical and structural work/systems associated with utility infrastructure, building and other industrial construction projects. The engineer plans, designs, and oversees the construction of new or expanded facilities, prepares architectural, engineering, and cost estimates, functional studies, construction plans, specifications, and schedules, obtains and supervises outside contractors, recommends design procedures and standards, and supervises detailed design, budgetary costing, standardized construction, and final inspection of facility projects. The engineer also conducts construction surveillance to ensure adherence to contractual requirements and provides engineering consulting services to local and divisional offices. The work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy, and accuracy. The engineer works under general supervision.
Must Have
Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant exempt experience
Master’s Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience
Ph.D. and 4 years of experience
Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program. The following Bachelor degrees may be used in lieu of an ABET Engineering Degree: Construction Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or a relevant construction degree.
