Cost Accountant | DeWitt, MI
Salary Range:
$67,000 - $100,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain standard costs for materials, labor, and manufacturing overhead.
Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
Perform detailed variance analysis, identifying root causes for discrepancies and recommending corrective actions.
Manage inventory valuation, including work-in-process and finished goods, ensuring accuracy and proper accounting.
Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and periodic forecasts related to production costs.
Identify and recommend cost reduction opportunities and process improvements within manufacturing operations.
Support month-end close activities, including journal entries for cost of goods sold and inventory adjustments.
Recommended Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, inventory valuation methods, and variance analysis.
Solid knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Bonus Qualifications
Experience with ERP system implementation or optimization (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification/experience.
Advanced Excel modeling and VBA proficiency.
