We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant/Full Charge Bookkeeper to lead our financial operations. The ideal candidate has a solid experience in construction accounting and possesses proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) and job costing software. You will manage the full cycle of accounting duties, from daily transactional entries to month-end closing, with a critical focus on accurate job costing and project profitability tracking.

Maintain accurate job cost ledgers in QuickBooks Online, ensuring all material, labor, and subcontractor expenses are allocated to the correct projects and cost codes.

Generate weekly/monthly "Budget vs. Actual" reports for project managers.

Track Work-in-Progress (WIP) and assist in analyzing project profitability.

Ensure proper "Class" and "Location" tracking within QBO for varied job sites.

Enter and code all vendor bills and credit card charges to specific jobs/overhead accounts.

Manage subcontractor compliance: Track Certificates of Insurance (COIs), W-9s, and Workers' Comp expirations before releasing payments.

Process weekly check runs and vendor payments.

Reconcile vendor statements and resolve billing discrepancies.

Prepare and file annual 1099s.

Create and send invoices to clients, including standard time‑and‑materials invoices and progress billing (AIA-style billing experience is a plus).

Manage Retainage receivables and payables if applicable.

Monitor the A/R aging report weekly.

Perform soft collections duties: contact clients regarding past‑due invoices and resolve payment disputes professionally.

Post customer payments and prepare bank deposits.

Ensure employee time is accurately coded to the correct job for labor burden allocation.

Manage garnishments, reimbursements, and benefits deductions.

Maintain the General Ledger and prepare journal entries.

Produce job profitability reports/monthly financial statements (Balance Sheet, P&L) for management review.

Coordinate with the external CPA for year-end tax preparation.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Associates degree in Accounting or related field is a plus

3+ years' experience in AP, AR, month-close and journal entries

1+ year experience in job costing

Experience with QuickBooks Online and intermediate Excel
