Basic Qualifications Skill Requirements:

As a

Materials and Processes Engineer

you will be engaged with work on a broad range of projects in both a laboratory and manufacturing environment that will challenge you to learn and grow in your career. Working side by side with designers, test and manufacturing engineers, you’ll use your education, experience and growing expertise to develop and evaluate new and innovative technology to survive in the most hostile of environments.

In this role you will:

Select Materials, and Processes (M&P) on new designs that will help defend our country, get hands‑on manufacturing experience of the next satellite, or provide oversight to an extensive supply chain providing products critical to Mission Success

Perform Materials and Processes (M&P) technical engineering assignments

Troubleshoot problems and find innovative solutions

Participate in the selection, qualification, testing, and failure analysis of materials & processes, prepare technical and progress reports on assigned tasks, prepare specifications, evaluate suppliers and analyze test reports

Coordinate with other disciplines such as Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement

A motivated individual who's able to work closely within a geographically diverse team to resolve technical issues

Someone with the ability to handle shifting priorities, multiple projects and timeline pressure to meet deadlines

Someone comfortable with communicating in a variety of forums

Successful applicants will typically possess 2 years of professional experience with a minimum education level of Bachelors degree from an accredited college in a related discipline (Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry / Chemical Engineering, Physics, or other Engineering related fields).

Desired skills

Familiar with general aerospace materials and processes

Familiarity with technical requirements (material and process specifications, program requirements, etc.)

Non‑conformance and failure analysis disposition experience

Understanding of material properties definitions

Material Science & Engineering, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering B.S. Desired

Good writing, communication and interpersonal skills

Active or Current DoD Security clearance

Work Schedule Information Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. National Pay Statement Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $70,100 - $123,625. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full‑time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. Premium Pay Statement Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $80,600 - $139,840. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
