Join Raytheon’s Systems Effectors: Processing, Guidance & Control Center to develop and optimize guidance, navigation, and control (GNC) algorithms for missile programs. The role is onsite, based in Tucson, AZ.
Overview Raytheon is a leader in defense technology, dedicated to protecting lives through advanced engineering. The Systems Effectors team drives algorithm development for guidance, navigation, and control, RF and EO‑IR signal processing, and missile‑level modeling and simulation.
What You Will Do
Develop, integrate, and test embedded tactical missile flight code.
Define and execute system‑level performance studies and analyses to inform new capabilities, refine existing ones, or address obsolescence.
Work within an agile framework to lead backlog creation, planning, and metrics.
Provide experience and guidance to train new engineers and enhance program efficiency.
Support missile performance analysis including model development, system optimization, and Monte Carlo assessments with expected system disturbances.
Qualifications You Must Have
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related STEM field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
Experience in GNC, signal processing, and/or modeling/simulation.
Engineering experience in at least one of the following areas:
Digital and/or modern control systems
Dynamics
Kalman filter design
Monte Carlo analysis
Development and/or simulation of physical systems
Signal processing
Verification and validation
System‑level performance assessments
GPS/INS navigation systems, sensors, and algorithms
Assured Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (APNT) systems for GPS‑degraded environments
Experience with MATLAB, Python, C, C++, and/or Object‑Oriented design
Experience with GNC and/or signal‑processing algorithms within a simulation or physical environment
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued interim Secret Security Clearance is required prior to start date, with eligibility to obtain program access afterward. U.S. citizenship is required.
Qualifications We Prefer
Active and current Secret or higher Security Clearance.
Advanced degree in Engineering, Science, Physics, Mathematics, or related STEM field with more than X years of GNC, signal processing, and/or modeling/simulation experience.
Excellent communication skills for interacting with internal leadership on critical matters.
Ability to balance multiple concurrent priorities with overlapping deadlines in an Agile environment.
Demonstrated achievement in systems engineering principles related to product development.

Salary range: $66,000 – $130,000 USD based on experience.
