Overview We are seeking a Cash Applications Specialist to provide year-end support for a high-volume healthcare billing environment. This is a fully remote, contract opportunity for someone with hands‑on experience posting insurance and patient payments who can step in quickly and contribute immediately. This role focuses on the accurate interpretation and posting of payments, denials, and adjustments from third‑party and government payers, as well as patient and health spending account payments.
Key Responsibilities
Interpret and accurately post insurance payments, denials, and adjustments
Post patient payments, including deductibles, co‑pays, and HSA payments
Review and analyze Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and Electronic Remittance Advices (ERAs)
Document payment issues and assist in resolution and follow‑up
Research and reconcile unapplied, missing, or misapplied payments
Coordinate account refunds, complex adjustments, and collection accounts
Communicate effectively with internal teams across all levels of the organization
Required Qualifications
1+ year of experience in cash applications, patient financial services, healthcare billing, or insurance payment posting
Proven experience posting insurance payments, including deductibles, co‑pays, and denials
Experience posting patient payments and Health Spending Account (HSA) payments
Ability to accurately interpret EOBs and ERAs
High school diploma/GED or equivalent practical experience
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage volume in a deadline‑driven environment
Preferred Qualifications
Additional experience in healthcare revenue cycle or financial operations
Strong analytical and reconciliation skills
Comfortable working independently in a remote environment
Onboarding Requirements
Proof of required vaccinations or willingness to complete onboarding health requirements
Typical requirements include Flu, MMR, and Varicella vaccines
